She who wonders

By Shuke Wang

Tiny frost fringes formed around Lilacs’ scarf. She hung her head down low and heard the whips of snow and rain cackle down her cheeks. The gray sky hovered at her and thunder deeply cracked in to the valleys. The side walks were covered in slush and mud and Lilac had several of frozen areas’ on her feet and hands. She glared at the sky and trembled.

“Why does god get his anger in depths of his wonders? I shall not make another request if you summon your powers on a cheerful day like this if thy does not bring peace to me.” Suddenly, Lilac got a straight bolt of lightning shatter her in the back. She fell to the ground faintly and said her prayers before closing her eyes and falling in deep sleep. When she woke up, she seemed

to notice that the condition was still the same. But she felt the warmth of joy and her cheeks flushed into the normal color. She thought about all her twenty-one years of life and all her happiness. And her sadness and pain and how her parents had died in an accident. Of how god had to send them to a place that would take her long to go to. Lilac smiled warmly though. The rain and condition felt like nothing. The color of the sky turned bright blue and Lilac saw herself floating at last to see her family again. She wondered if she would ever make it to thy second life, though she was happy to go to a place with no fears and no worries. The sky would be blue forever and thy life would be joyful. She finally got to go. And till this day, it will be she who wonders, as she softly drifts away.
