Lie From Thunder

By Shuke Wang (可儿作)

Ziziziii! As a few arrows hit a rock, the feeling of wind was blowing against Ragakap’s neck. The wise old turtle dashed away, awkwardly sighing.

“Missed again!” he giggled in relief. His giggle sounded real, but stiff and serious.

“Another time and I’ll die!” he coughed, suddenly feeling tired.

“Better than saying good-bye to your surroundings.” Leaperdo laughed. The tired turtle looked annoyingly at the spiky bushes and the small blueberry trees. The wind rapidly blew against the tall yellow grasses and sausage plants by the river.

“Bye, later, whatever!” Ragacap stated slyly staring at a drop of drew above him.

Too many humans were intruding the animals and plants habitat.

“We will need protection.” Snakeciol hissed.

“When beetles whisper while mice swim and when snakes don’t eat it’ll mean, time for protection.”

Suddenly, Thunder, who had electricity, stricken up hearing the conversation. Thunder himself was a self centered show off.

“I’m a great arch!” Thunder said proudly, even though he knew he could not aim properly. “I will aim my precious static at the bows, and they will not work.” “I will make huge scary noises and scare the people away.” And I will blind them with my eerie glow.” Thunder shouted.

“I can take care of the people myself!

“Okay” Ragakap sighed. “If you don’t step back and succeed, I will gift you with one of my special gifts.” “Thunder! We rely on you!”

Thunder nodded, but suddenly started to worry. When he did not need to work, he heard chants from the star.

Thunder, thunder,

You can lie,

If you want to, you can try.

But we warn you, you will cry.

Thunder, thunder,

Please don’t lie!

The voices chanted. But Thunder ignored them, so weeks passed by, and the hunting day had come. But Thunder still admitted that he was excellent.

Finally, ziziii! Arrows shot at random parts of the meadow. Thunder awoke hearing the dreadful sound of shouts. Immediately, he shot out handfuls of static. Slowly, the shouts got louder. Thunder thought he had done a good job. But he knew that he had not, because he heard angry taunts.

You have lost your static,

Turtles now walk slowly,

It’s all because of you,

And that’s why you’re now lonely.

Thunder was now desperate. He didn’t know what to do. It was too late to do anything. His punishment was to not get his static back, until turtles could run again. And he learned something that was suppose to be learned, when he was younger.

Never ever, ever lie!
